Obstacles ARE the way!

Why fear and resistance are 1000% part of dreamstorming & and wonderful life

When we give ourselves space to dream and brainstorm (dreamstorm), it can give us great ideas and clarity about what we want to do next. When we make brave decisions about what we want to do next, resistance and fear can make a loud appearance. It’s normal, doesn’t mean it isn’t uncomfortable or confusing at the time.

I had a difficult day this week. I’m in the midst of a personal decision that feels big and wow did the fear make an appearance. I could even see where I started shrinking back (in the past) from this decision, because of fear. But now is the time. AND I’m able to keep moving forward, allow the discomfort and take action on what is best for me EVEN THOUGH the experience of it sucks.

I’ve gone through these cycles of growth enough to know that I didn’t want to heed the fear but I also knew it didn’t serve me to push through. The pop up of fear and angst was inviting me to let it process through. And after a lot of practice with this in the past 4 years, it paid off.

I gave myself some space to just be with the physical experience of this WHY? Sounds crazy and uncomfortable, right? The good news, I’ve learned the allowance of anxiety and big emotion helps it to not only pass through more quickly but to reveal insight along the way.

I knew to bring in support but I also kept honoring how I wanted to lead through this process. I also had a few meetings with people that know me well and can give some advice around the issue at hand. I even had a coaching conversation or two. (not a coincidence, I knew I needed support to continue doing the right thing for me in this situation).

Why am I sharing this experience?

Because we often need reminders that:

  1. Even though you are brave enough to make a big decision it doesn’t mean following through and moving forward is easy. Keep going but with curiosity and self compassion not pushing through.

  2. You can be on the other side of a big transformation and still have more work to do. Well isn’t that great news. I thought I was done with the journey of becoming more myself. Turns out there are more layers. Easy for me to support with clients, not so easy for me to do for myself. Oh I’m human. AND so are you. Carry on, love!

  3. Pushing through and ignoring discomfort rob me of some insight and peace. When I pause, sit with things, stay curious instead of entering into a victim energy, there is joy and peace on the other side.

  4. It always gets better. As I am a week away from those tough days, I am now clear, and not as reactive as I move forward. I continue to feel out of the drama of this big decision. Nice!

Why am I sharing this?

  • Because our culture has been rewarding the push through at OUR expense.

  • Because we deserve to be reminded that we aren’t disqualified because we’re worried or anxious vs confident.

  • Because I love sharing a better way to move through hard things.

Cheering you on in your big, wonderful life.

xoxo,

Diana
