It?s amazing to me what I?ve learned about my mind after I met Brooke Castillo and started using the tools from The Life Coach School. ?Sometimes I have been a little embarrassed about what is going on in that little head of mine.
Here?s a sampling of the sneaky little thoughts that run through my mind on any given day:
?You better work out really hard so you can ?enjoy? (aka overeat) the food & wine at book club.?
?Why does she work out, she?s so skinny??
?My friend didn?t get back to me, I must have done something wrong.??
?I am working out really hard, I better eat again.?
?You gained some weight, what type of weight loss coach are you??
OK, I am feeling a little pit in my stomach right now, plus there?s a little warm and tight feeling spreading in my chest.
Does NOT feel good.
First, admitting those thoughts is tougher than I thought. I am definitely feeling some fear. As a good life coach must do, I ask myself why?
The answer, if I share with you what I?m really thinking, you?re going to think I?m silly & stupid and not great at what I do.
Relief???..the minute I admitted the why, after feeling that fear, I realize that once again I?m just recognizing the thoughts behind the feeling I was having. They are just thoughts. I can manage my mind and choose to not believe them or think them.
What on earth does this have to do with weight loss?
What you think matters, especially if you have been struggling with your weight.
Does this sound familiar:
?I can?t lose weight, I?ve tried everything.?
?I gained 3 pounds over the weekend, I might as well give up.?
?I hate my body, it?s so fat and ugly.?
?I?m not worth it.?
Ok, just reading them, how do you feel? Pretty yucky right?
When you feel yucky (I know sophisticated word right?), how do you react? What do you do with your time, how do eat and what do you do?
What outcomes do you get when you think this way?
BUT how about this:
?I am learning how to take care of my body in a new, healthy way.?
?I?ve noticed that I eat when I?m really sad or frustrated, I?m going to be kind to myself about that.?
?I am going to take some small steps each day towards better health.?
?I am learning new tools to get in touch with my appetite.?
How do you feel now? How do you feel about moving forward with your goal to lose weight now?

I help you look at the thoughts that aren?t serving you. We look at the patterns around food that you want to change.
