When was your first diet? Seriously, look back. For me it was 3rd grade. I suspect it began after my mom was notified by the school that my weight was unhealthy. I walked home for lunch and there it was: a can of a vanilla flavored drink and that was… lunch. Yep, a liquid diet at 3rd grade.
Think about that. Think about the messages that were given to me about food, my appetite and my body. Food was bad and was making me fat. I started to believe something was very wrong with my body, something was very wrong with me.
That started my (almost) lifetime journey of searching the solution to lose weight. I’ve been on at least 10 different diets (some pretty crazy!!!) and promised to start again on “Monday” more times than I can count. I don’t even want to imagine how many New Year’s resolutions were based on losing weight. DOES this sound familiar?
