Just popping in here on this amazing 3 day weekend.
I want to help you today to leverage and learn from what happens for you during vacation. It’s a peek into, perhaps a hint you can listen for that you can use to bring more joy, restoration and pleasure into your life. Your everyday life.
We are so prone to putting off any breaks, any pleasure, any just slow down and enjoy moments UNTIL we are off work (weekend) or on vacation.
I don’t think this rhythm of work is serving you or I very well. And to be honest in my business as of late I need this reminder.
So, in this very mini podcast, I want to ask you to pay attention.
What did you LOVE about your vacation?
Was it enjoying a totally unplanned day, just doing what you wanted when you wanted?
Was it getting outside more?
Was it taking some time to read?
Or was it that you got a chance to move your body more?
For those that have families, AND even those that don’t? What types of gatherings with your favorite humans did you love?
Leisurely Dinners catching up with what was on everybody’s mind?
Or letting each of your kids choose a favorite restaurant on a particular day?
Were there hobbies you gave yourself time to enjoy.
I know I know a LOT of questions.
But that is the point.
Take any vacation or even a weekend and let the things that you LOVE to do, that just lit you the heck up!! GEt your attention.
Now …….
Can you give yourself permission to bring these things into your daily life?
We have been trained so well on all work and then all play. What if the rhythm that would serve you and your business is a powerful integration of the two? SERIOUSLY
When you are in the middle of your busy work week, when you find yourself saying…..I can’t wait for the weekend so I can………? LISTEN…..take note.
These are powerful clues and I don’t care what work load you have, the only thing that is getting in the way of integrating life giving, restorative activities is a thought or two.
“I need to get my work done!” “I have too much to do” etc.
Our brain loves pattern, it might feel uncomfortable to switch gears and do something different but when we honor these clues, these cravings, it is amazing how powerful they are.
When we get in more of a rhythm and establish a rhythm of work and play during our week the pay off is big:
Restored energy
Decreased resentment
Allows creativity
There are so many more……
So basically, I’m going to give you some homework
Do you miss reading? Plan 30 minutes on your calendar every week No Matter What
Do you miss moving? Plan 3 20 minute workouts or walks and see how that works for you work schedule.
Do you miss cooking? Plan 1 night that you Stop No matter what at 5 or 6 and cook dinner for yourself.
Why do I insist?
The pay offs are SO worth it!
You are not a robot and when you integrate play, pleasure and joy into your everyday routine
You just might be more productive than you have EVER been.
You might think of more creative solutions to quickly solve issues in your business.
You just might get to enjoy the humans you live with (even if it is JUST you!!!).
Let what you enjoy on vacation become a part of your life. You’ll be so glad you did!
And you better believe I’m going to follow my own advice and start reading one of those books in that stack over there! (Did you notice a LOT of very cool people wrote books during the pandemic!!!)
Have a fabulous holiday my friends.
