It feels like a clean slate: a new year, a new president, a new business year, new goals.
I’m finding a lot of 50/50 in all of those circumstances.
The clean start of a new calendar year can bring mixed emotions. Be onto them.
On one hand, there is the fresh start feeling that can be exhilarating looking at all sorts of fresh new opportunities and fresh starts.
But the brain, remember, loves certainty and I’ve noticed a thought or two that this ‘new start of a year’ is daunting.
Have you? Wow, like starting from scratch.
Like I need all sorts of energy to start from nothing.
We’re not starting from nothing.
Everything you have built to this point is building and supporting you to the next.
Everything you’ve done in your business counts from the day one of its inception until now. AND includes every life experience you’ve had.
You get to decide how LEVERAGE that today.
I needed that reminder this morning. As I stared at a blank journal last night recounting my 5 gratitudes, my 3 wins for the day I realized every one I wrote down came from the day to day showing up 6 years ago as a business person. And that makes me proud.
If you’re doing something new, don’t let your mind tell you it’s ‘starting from scratch’. Remind it that this is just one step forward from everything you know how to do so far. It will calm you down, help you to move forward in a grounded way. It might give you some ideas.
